omg mad. I’m literally bawling my eyes out this is the sweetest thing I’ve ever read on the planet and you’re so sweet. and so talented ITS ALL SO BEAUTIFUL I CANT. each line is so generous and beautiful and sweet and I’m so speechless and I wanna squeeze you and send you billions of jaffa cakes. NOBODY HAS EVER WRITTEN A POEM ABOUT ME BEFORE I’ve always wanted that thank you so very much mad I love you very much and ur my first Substack bestie and my bestie forever and I’m very grateful to substack for introducing me to your orange bell pepper energy and to one of my closest and bestest friends. “To love her Is to press your ear to her silence And hear the whole sea In a single breath.” crying at that so much. and I can’t stop will not stop rereading this whole poem constantly and showing everyone I come across. thank you. 😭🩷🫶💋⭐️
This is absolutely gorgeous. The way you’ve woven the ocean metaphor throughout—it’s not just pretty imagery, it actually says something deep about who she is. “Walks like tides know her name” gave me chills. And that line about holding “storms and lullabies in the same breath”? That’s someone who’s lived through things but kept her softness.
I love how you made her feel so real and specific. The part about her curves being “etched by love, grief, laughter” makes her feel like an actual person with a whole history, not just some idealized figure.
The ending completely got me. “Press your ear to her silence and hear the whole sea”—that’s what it feels like when you really connect with someone special. They contain multitudes.
This reads like it was written by someone who truly sees her, not just looks at her. Beautiful work.
